Last winter the city of Montreal grossly exceeded its $128,000,000 snow removal budget due to unusually heavy snowfall. I spent some time photographing the apparatus that keeps the city streets cleared and passable. Unlike the countryside, the city must operate in the same fashion regardless of season or weather as the nature we have created for it demands.
